Kia Niro EV

We’re excited to announce that Fort Collins Kia is Electric Vehicle Certified! We can now bring you the Kia Niro EV. Our sales team has been trained and certified to answer all your questions on the vehicle and our service team is prepared to help you take care of it for years to come. The Niro EV is based on the plug-in hybrid Niro and retains its crossover styling for the 100% electric version.

The Niro EV has an EPA estimated 239 mile range and comes standard on both trim levels with tons of features. All Niro EV’s have Kia’s extensive lineup of driver assistance features, including Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Warning to help keep you alert during those long or late night drives.

Trim levels

Kia Niro EV Interior

The EV comes in two trim levels, the EX and EX Premium. In addition the the full suite of Kia Drive Wise Driver Assistance technology, both trims boast 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque. Every Niro EV also has 53 cubic feet of cargo room, UVO link with remote start, Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The EX premium bumps the standard 8″ infotainment touchscreen to a 10.3″ with voice control navigation. The Premium also adds wireless phone charging capabilities, an upgraded Harman Kardon speaker system, adjustable mood lighting and ventilated front seats. Both have DC Fast Charging capabilities.

There is also an available Cold Weather Package, that we believe is well worth the upgrade. This package includes a heated steering wheel, battery heater, and quite importantly, a heat pump. The heat pump is a more efficient way of heating the car’s cabin and improves driving range in cold weather. Car and Driver tested this feature and saw a 20 mile advantage over another EV not equipped with a heat pump while driving in mid-20 degree winter weather. For us here in Northern Colorado, this will be a great feature when the cold wether hits.

Battery and Performance

Kia Niro EV Charging

The Niro EV is powered by an electric motor that produces 201 horsepower, which is sent through the front wheels by a 1 speed direct drive transmission. This produces immediate power, right off the line and gives it a peppy 0-60 mph time of 6.5 seconds, beating out the Chevy Bolt and on par with the Hyundai Kona EV.  It’s also possible to drive the Niro EV with just a single pedal thanks to regenerative braking, which recharges the battery as you brake by capturing kinetic energy you’d typically lose during deceleration. When using one pedal, regenerative braking is controlled by paddles mounted on the steering wheel.

Aside from the peppy ride provided by EV technology, the Niro EV offers a pleasantly refined ride. According to another Car and Driver test, “the Niro EV offers a more refined ride than its competition; wind and road noise are far less noticeable than in the Bolt EV, Kona EV, or even the Model 3.”

Warranty

Kia offers some of the most impressive warranties available in the market. The main selling point is our 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. The hybrid/EV component warranty is also 10 year/100,00 miles and the limited warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles. The limited and hybrid/EV component warranty beat out what Chevrolet offers on the Bolt and what Nissan offers on the Leaf. You can drive with zero emissions and 100% confidence that we’ve got you covered!
